“Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer.”
Dan Brown, Digital Fortress
Why I like it
One of the most motivational quotes I have heard, this quote also happens to be the centrepiece on my work table – as a plaque
Why it finds a place in my top 100
Guilty as charged. I am a Dan Brown fan. I have read all his books, and have particularly liked his books featuring Robert Langdon. (No one mention Tom Hanks here, please). I have rarely paused to check the facts and accuracy of information. But I do love the way he presents the story – both in history and in the other settings.
This particular quote, from Digital Fortress (also a novel I have read many times) is one of my favourites because of what it says. Nothing in life is impossible, if you sidestep the jokes about putting the toothpaste back into the tube. Taken in the right sense, these words might make all the difference between giving up and trudging on, however interminable a problem seems to be. This needs to be constantly repeated to anyone who lacks the motivation to pursue something because they assume it is impossible. It may take longer, but it will eventually happen. Efforts don’t go in vain.
